Experience দ্বৈধ (A Duality)↗ through ARTCON's immersive 3D virtual tour. Presented as a major curated project of Dhaka Art Summit 2023↗ at the National Art Gallery, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, from 3–11 February 2023, the exhibition was co-produced by Brihatta Art Foundation and Samdani Art Foundation. Curated by Bishwajit Goswami with research support from Muhammad Nafisur Rahman, the project brought together 39 artists, architects, designers, photographers, performers, and researchers in a multidisciplinary exploration of Bangladesh's riverine landscape and its enduring relationship with people, nature, and memory.
Explore the exhibition through an interactive 360° walkthrough and journey across six thematic sections—Estuary, Fluidity, The Land, Indebtedness, Contradiction, and Source—each unfolding like the course of a river from the Himalayan foothills to the Bay of Bengal. The exhibition engages multiple senses through colour, texture, sound, scent, materiality, architecture, performance, and installation, creating an immersive environment where artworks transcend conventional display. Rather than presenting nature as a passive backdrop, দ্বৈধ (A Duality) reveals the intertwined realities of creation and destruction, abundance and scarcity, tradition and modernity, inviting visitors to experience the complexities of Bangladesh's deltaic landscape as a living cultural and ecological system.
Bringing together works by some of Bangladesh's most distinguished artists alongside contemporary practitioners, architects, designers, and researchers, the exhibition examines environmental transformation, climate resilience, urbanisation, agrarian heritage, and the interconnectedness of human and natural existence. Through painting, sculpture, photography, installation, architecture, performance, video, animation, and site-specific interventions, the project dissolves the boundaries between disciplines, encouraging dialogue and critical reflection on the dualities that shape everyday life.
Produced by ARTCON as a documentary archive, the virtual tour preserves the exhibition's architectural design, curatorial narrative, and multisensory experience beyond the physical venue. Accessible on desktop, mobile, and VR headsets, it enables artists, researchers, students, curators, and visitors worldwide to explore one of the most conceptually ambitious projects of Dhaka Art Summit 2023, ensuring lasting access to this remarkable intersection of artistic research, environmental thought, and contemporary exhibition practice.
