Our Virtual Reality

Experience the 19th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2022↗ through ARTCON's immersive 3D virtual tour. Presented at the National Art Gallery, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the virtual experience documents one of Asia's longest-running and most prestigious international biennales. Organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the biennale was held from 8 December 2022 to 7 January 2023 (extended until 13 January 2023) under the theme "Home and Displacement." The virtual tour preserves a significant chapter in the history of international contemporary art, making this landmark exhibition accessible to audiences worldwide.

Explore the exhibition through an interactive 360° walkthrough across multiple galleries of the National Art Gallery. The tour includes Gallery 12, presenting curated exhibitions from Asia and Oceania; Gallery 11, featuring curated exhibitions from Asia; Gallery 10, dedicated to Europe; Gallery 6, showcasing artists from the Rest of the World; and Galleries 8, 9, the New Gallery, and the Lobby, presenting the international curated projects Here, There and Everywhere and Visible Connection. The virtual experience faithfully documents the spatial design, curatorial vision, and relationships between artworks across the exhibition.

Bringing together 649 artworks by 493 artists from 114 countries, the biennale presented an extraordinary range of artistic practices, including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, installation, new media, and performance art. Addressing the universal themes of home, migration, displacement, identity, memory, and belonging, the exhibition reflected diverse cultural perspectives while fostering dialogue between artists from across the globe. The biennale was further enriched by a two-day international seminar featuring distinguished curators, critics, jurors, scholars, and artists, reinforcing its role as an important platform for artistic and intellectual exchange.

Produced by ARTCON as a documentary archive, the virtual tour preserves the exhibition's curatorial narrative, architectural setting, and international scope while extending access beyond the physical venue. Accessible on desktop, mobile, and VR headsets, the experience enables artists, researchers, students, curators, collectors, and visitors worldwide to explore one of the world's most significant international art biennales and an enduring milestone in Bangladesh's cultural history.
