Self and Others presents a series of paintings by Hasura Akther Rumky that reflect on the relationship between personal identity and the surrounding social world. Drawing inspiration from everyday life, the artist explores subjects such as rickshaw pullers, Bauls, pigeons, portraits and self-portraits, capturing moments of empathy, memory and human connection.

Rumky’s engagement with rickshaw imagery highlights Dhaka’s vibrant yet gradually disappearing rickshaw art culture, while her portraits and self-portraits reveal an introspective search for self-understanding. Working with pastel, acrylic, charcoal and mixed media, the artist combines expressive forms and vibrant colours to transform familiar scenes into poetic reflections on life, identity and the shared experience of being human.
