The Decorated Deeds Collection comprises the complete body of works presented in Arham-ul-Huq Chowdhury’s exhibition ‘দলিলে দৃশ্যপট’ – প্রাচীন দলিলে বাংলা ক্যালিগ্রাফি / ‘DECORATED DEEDS’ – Bangla Calligraphy on Antique Documents. The collection features the artist’s Bangla calligraphy created on rare antique documents, some dating back more than a century and spanning the East India Company era to the early twentieth century.

Through this body of work, the artist breathes new life into historical records that once formed part of Bengal’s legal, social, and cultural landscape, layering them with expressive calligraphic interpretations of traditional Bangla proverbs and idioms. Each artwork creates a dialogue between past and present, where the weathered surfaces of archival documents meet dynamic contemporary mark-making, transforming familiar wisdom into compelling visual narratives.

As a cohesive collection, Decorated Deeds reflects a thoughtful engagement with cultural heritage through contemporary artistic practice. By bringing together language, history, and material memory, the works invite viewers to reflect on the enduring relevance of collective knowledge and the stories embedded within the documents of the past.
