Artist Statement

Working on ethological meter and existence of human nature and trying to give narration of human soul. My thinking is that we are living between three dimension, body, mind and spirit. It makes a triangular called soul. Fight between good spirit and greed, death is the only destination. Thoughts that's make a story of reality, death and beauty.

Face against face mask against mask and silently self-exploration is internal history of my picture. We always bound of our daily infra structural mechanical life we lost our inner existence and sometimes we find ourselves through the intellection and consciousness. It's a mysterious journey the existence of human being found by me in a word called "humanity" for me the definition of this new feelings is "synthetic feelings". Calculation doesn't match. I do make myself open like a box or try to find out the losing existence then I can analyzed myself as being postmortem of 'existing existence'.

“His bold canvasses are an extension of that process, which are almost self-analytical.”

Exhibition catalogue ENIGMA documenting Sayed Fida Hossain's first solo exhibition, presented by ARTcon at the EMK Center, Dhaka, from 16 to 28 July 2016.

The exhibition brings together a body of paintings through which Fida Hossain investigates the complexities of human existence, consciousness and the inner self. At the centre of his artistic inquiry is a triangulation of body, mind and spirit, which he understands collectively as the soul of a human being. His works explore the tensions inherent within this existence—the struggle between good and evil, the mechanical structures of everyday life, consciousness and unconsciousness, beauty and death.

Fida describes his practice as a process of silent self-exploration. Through faces, masks, figures and psychologically charged forms, his paintings become spaces for examining the relationship between external existence and an inner self that can become obscured by the routines and mechanisms of contemporary life. The artist's search for what he calls humanity emerges through intellectual reflection and an awareness of consciousness, transforming personal introspection into a broader meditation on human experience.
