Harun Fakir (Muhammad Moniruzzaman) is a self-taught Bangladeshi painter whose artistic life resembles that of a Baul absorbed in his ektara—singularly devoted, intuitive, and inward-looking. Immersed in the world of painting, Fakir approaches the canvas as a space of continual exploration, where expression emerges through persistence, introspection, and emotional discipline.

Learning directly from nature and mentored under eminent artist Hamiduzzaman Khan, Fakir has developed a personal visual language shaped by instinct and experience rather than academic convention. His practice reflects a restless aesthetic journey, as he repeatedly reshapes his inner world through form, colour, and gesture. This intense engagement resulted in the creation of more than one hundred artworks in a single year, marking a significant phase of artistic maturation.

His first solo exhibition at the Gallery of Fine Arts, Asiatic Society of Bangladesh presented forty selected works, offering audiences an immersive encounter with his evolving vision. The paintings invite viewers into a contemplative realm—one that moves beyond representation toward emotion, rhythm, and imagination.

Despite being a relatively young artist, Harun Fakir has already drawn the attention of collectors, with his works entering numerous private collections. Alongside his artistic practice, he is also a successful businessman and art collector, maintaining an active engagement with the broader art ecosystem. With a future rich in potential, Fakir continues to pursue painting as both devotion and discovery.
